As I implied in my OP, most of these forums, including this one, censor posts. I posted anonymously because in the Philippines they will take revenge in any way possible for posting anything negative and , in fact, their slander laws can be applied to most any criticism. I have not been with this forum long enough to determine if censorship is as bad as it was under the previous owners, but most ALL forums on the internet are more concerned about advertiser revenue than they are about freedom of speech and here they are concerned about lawyer complaints re slander, since the laws are written so poorly here in the R.P. and foreigners are frequently targets.

The remark you deleted was not really a personal attack but was not the main thrust of my posting about foodnet, it was based on observations made over months about the way the place is managed but was not central to my complaint about case of food poisoning there.

You might find this hard to believe but I have NEVER gotten sick eating at calenderias here, only at large chains such as foodnet, mcdonalds, etc. I eat at family run calenderias because they have a personal interest in making sure people don't get sick from their food. I do not eat at roadside stalls since they have no comfort rooms. The poorly paid employees at places like food net, do not. It's the chains and other such restaurants that are more dangerous imo.

My sole purpose in posting was to warn others about a restaurant that I consider dangerous to eat at, especially if your old and not in the best of health or a child with an immature immune system. People die each year in the USA from food poisioning (latest is Chipoltle) and they have much better government inspection there than they do here. Here is is non-existent. Eat out at your own risk.

Re forum rules, and anon posting. I am not really anon since the admin of the forum knows my id.
But I am anon to the extent that my IP and computer use and real identity would be difficult to get based on my post. I make it a point to separate my real identity from anything on the internet.

Ah I see, so you want to remain anonymous so you don't get a come back But are quite willing to let the Owner and the Forum take the stick for your comments.
I can't talk about the owner and his views but I call that a little Selfish & lacking in Moral Fibre.

I've been a member of a few forums where there was next to no moderation and I've visited (and not joined) many many more. It's a complete mess without any forum rules/moderation and usually nothing more than flame wars. Those types of places don't help anyone find or share the information they are looking for and it certainly puts off a whole lot of people from participating. I understand that the Philippine laws on defamation are silly but without a court order from a US court (where Visayacom, the owner of DI, operates the forum from) no user IP addresses will be given out. As for moderating for advertising purposes: most of the revenue comes from Google Ads and I don't make any money off the forum, it pays the server/hosting fees and nothing more.....nor is it expected to turn a profit. Google has a few rules for websites using their ad servers (no porn, hate speech, promoting illegal activities, sale of alcohol/cigarettes etc) but I don't moderate that stuff out because of them. This forum is about Dumaguete and the surrounding areas, not a porn or hate site and I'm certainly not selling any drugs/alcohol/smokes. That stuff would be removed regardless of any advertisers to keep it a place that focuses on and promotes sharing information about Dumaguete and the surrounding area. The freedom of speech thing doesn't really apply to privately owned forums though. There are

Moderator discretion. Sorry, but I disagree.

Hmm, I've had the opposite experience. It happens.

And there is no problem with posting that. You said the comment on the owner was not central to your complaint so the message has still been delivered as intended.

Correct, you are anonymous to all users (including moderators) except for me. So not truly anonymous, I never meant for people to think that it was completely anonymous.
Admins can also see IP addresses (even when the anonymous feature is used). I mentioned above what it would take to get me to release that information.....and that goes for any other user information that is given when someone signs up. There is no problem with making posts like these using the Anonymous feature. Thanks for the reminder on why it was put there in the first place. This has gone off topic though, if the conversation is to continue it can be through PM or I can split the off-topic posts into a new thread in the appropriate sub-forum.

Nobody is taking a/the stick for anything. Valid points made and I have no problem with negative reviews or the anonymous posts (if there was a problem the feature would remove). If the OP wants to remain anonymous I fully understand. Though it probably would have been best not to bring up questions about how the forum was moderated without first giving it a go to see how the post would be handled.

These posts are getting moved to their own thread. Let's avoid flaming and talk about the subject in a mature manner.
