⌛ Gamiguin

Dear members.

In October/November I come for 6 weeks to the Philippines and also four weeks to Dumaguete.
When I am in Dum I like to go for one week to Camiguin for diving.
Does someone over here has experiances with traveling form Dum to Camiguin and a good resort on that island with also a diving base.

And what can I expect on that island and what is a must to see over there.

The only place I was, were the action Gekkos, but the austrian divsshop manager is not there anymore and it goes a bit downhill...

at the end it did not matter as I skipped the diving after 3 dives... would not recommend it as a dive-highlight in the philippines.

The Island by itself is wonderful. I would recommend you going to Cebu, get a Tour-Guide and take a cabin in the night-ferry to CdO . From there w/ a catameran directly to the Island.

I also like to go around the island and if 4 days is enough I go back to Dum .
It depends if I like to stay longer on the Island.

There is a once weekly service dum-cdo sat a.m. and cdo-dum sat midnight

 

Resorts on Camiguin:

Secret Cove Beach Resort - Closed July and August (2009), but will be open before your trip in October.

Diveshop on Camiguin:

Johnny's Dive Shop - Three locations on Camiguin Island.

The island is pear shaped and about 64 kilometers around its perimeter. You can rent a motorcycle from Secret Cove, and possibly other places to, of whiich I am not aware, to ride around the island, if you wish.

There are hot and soda springs. It's quite a nice island to visit. I go there fairly often and have a great time when I do.

If you are much of a drinking person, you will appreciate no bar better than the one at Secret Cove: More than you will want to drink.

If you go to CDO from Dumaguete, you can then take a bus or taxi east, to a small town called Balingoan (1 to 1.5 hours away). From Balingoan Pier, you can take a Super Shuttle Ferry across to Camiguin, which will moor at Benoni Wharf. From there, you can hop on a jeepney to your destination.

4 days is for me way too few for camiguin.
i went there for a week and stayed for 4 weeks.
spectacular diving. saw more than once eagle rays and once a manta. big school of mamsa, ... .

dont forget the fabulous pizza at "la luna"
