In less than 2 weeks the price went down from almost 60 to less than 55 pesos. Now that there are almost as many gas stations in Dumaguete as motors, has competition started,or is this an early Christmas gift?
The oil companies are rolling back the price of fuel, it's not just Dumaguete where prices are plummeting. Look for it to continue for a while. Oil companies announce hefty fuel price cuts effective Monday | Inquirer News Larry
Actually looks like it's not just limited to the Philippines; Gasoline prices post biggest fall in nearly 4 years: survey - Yahoo! News Larry
Did you ever noticed that all of the gasoline stations have the same price as the other? as far as i know there are only three companies that has refinery in the philippines. i also wonder why in Tayasan or guihungan has cheaper gasoline prices in dumaguete?
I went to Cebu last week the prices were a couple pesos cheaper with variations in southern Cebu down to P41.75 in Cebu City. I stopped on the SRP at Petron and filled up for P42.25 (diesel). Most everything is a lot higher in Dumaguete, compared with Cebu. Funny, not haha, how all the fuel prices in DGT are the same. Most common vegs. are double what they are in Cebu. I still don't want to live there, tho if they build a decent mall or 2 with a Rustans I might be swayed. Not holding my breath.
I would say that the gas stations don't compete here due to the way that filipinos in these parts deal with competition. I bet if one owner lowered their price by 5 centovos they would likely have a price tag on their head. I would also bet that even given there is a gas pump for every motorbike in the city now there are actually very few owners of the gas stations. Betting they are all connected and have relations with each other.
And have you ever looked at the receipt on how much fuel you purchased? I looked the other day after getting 1000p of fuel and saw that they made about 200 pesos on that. I don't much care, if you want cheap fuel go to the US.
