I am certain you sold this long ago. Any idea where I can purchase another one in decent condition?

Have you tried Aymae U.S.Surplus at this (click) location?

The things they have there look like they came from estate sales so there is a chance you might find one.

Thanks for the tip. I have been there several times in the past looking for other things, and you're right....there's a good chance they will have one. I need to remember to bring along a VHS tape to test it.

I have a Panasonic VHS player recorder that I used when I lived in Cebu 5 years ago then stored it until I retired here in Duma. I'm wanting to use it again to record from cable tv like I did before but can't find VHS blank tapes anywhere. Anybody got some to sell or even one I can use to test it out again.

According to this site (click here)
You can buy a box of 5 online in Australia for $130 and ship them here by mail for another $20 so AUS$150 for a box of 5. Sounds a bit expensive but seems it is a possibility.

I know its probably too expensive for you Mike, just pointing out that it is a last resort.

Are there any devices that can record Sat/cable tv other than VHS recorders?

There are various ways. You can do it through your pc, many modern tv's from 2011+ actually can do it as well but do require a usb. Further things like dvr's and the like.

Its long past time to ditch the old VHS box and tapes. They are so dated its just not a proper investment to deal with especially as getting tapes can be a major pain and few can services an old cruddy vhs player that is dying or dead.
