Any hams on the forum, or anyone on the forum know of any ham radio operators in or around Dumaguete? I'm moving to the Sibulan area this month and would like to know of any others participating in the hobby. John
Near the airport is a subdivision (San Antonio village?) which has numerous ham operators in it. Look for the towers and call signs on the gates. Larry
I see the area on the map, Larry, just north of the airport, San Antonio Street and surroundings. Will be tower hunting there, and that is the first time I ever heard of hams hanging a callsign shingle, very interesting. Thanks for the tip. John
Actually, I believe there are a lot of local Radio operators, at least I see a lot of cars in Dumaguete that have call sign stickers on the rear (DU=Philippines) and 70cm/2m antennas, I also just recently saw a big rig on a new house in Bagacay, I myself have still some CB and Ham gear here but no RX/TX besides my Sony Multiband... 73/55...QRT and out...
simple mind, apologies for not having a direct answer to your quote, but I can say that of all the radio gear available in the world, 2m receive has to be among the most affordable. BTW I'm also looking. Will share whatever I find, hope you will do the same! In the meantime, are you a solder guy? Even if not, maybe you will enjoy the link below, this guy wanted to operate 2 meters with only his HF rig as receiver, so he built a transverter. I've never done this BTW, I'm not so good at electronics that way, not a builder, but I do find it very interesting! 2m to HF transverter Edit: apparently I cannot post a link here, its all good. If you're interested, go to google and use the search keywords: "2m to HF transverter saunalahti" and, good luck!
Any active hams on 2m? and if incase if anyone is looking ham stuff, i know some few places here in cebu...
