Hi. My name is Les Brown - a scotsman - living in Spain. I'm a singer, song-writer, and make CDs, (mostly own songs). Will move to Dumaguete in the second half of October, and hope to sing a little, if anybody wishes to hear
I'm 68 years of age, and into immunology, which I believe keeps you young.
I have nothing to do wih the Les Brown Big Band guy, who played for Doris Day. Apparently he died early in 2000s.
I also sing oldies, and love songs, and enjoy philosophy.
    Hope to see you soon.

Welcome Les, Hope when you arrive you will wear a kilt.
Filipino's find it quite amusing, but have not caught on yet to.... what does a Scotsman wear under his kilt ? surprises to come!
Enjoy your stay in Dumaguete regards JB

I hope so. Will arrive in Dumaguete on 20th October, early morning. Will check where to go, and enjoy the music. I sing country, and blues, oldies, and love songs. Also play guitar, and use backing tracks. Have heard here are many singers around. I'll just blend in

Yeah, there are many people here who can shout in a microphone.
And the monitor screen tells them mostly the unexpected 'trueth': "97 points. You are becoming soon a professional singer".
How more do I need to be convinced of the correctness of such statements :D:( ??
Good singers get mostly a lower score.
I think the distortion amount is a pro in the counting.
The more distortion and the louder sound you produce, the higher your score

I never use a magic microphone. It's easy to cheat, and give people a better, or lesser score. I use professional backing tracks because I have recorded in britain, Austria, germany, and Nashville. I simply enjoy to sing. I'm also a radio DJ for the english living in Spain. How is the radio there in the Phils?

If you are a real good DJ you can easily find a job here :D (I hope)
At least that is my perception of what I hear when I sometimes (!!!!!) listen to the radio while driving our car.
Do I need to say more ?
But on the other hand, I have not heard a lot of DJ's who were really good, not here and not in any country I lived.
They mostly tend to like listening to their own voices and to laugh loudly about their own 'jokes'.

One typical thing here in the Ph. I do remember now at this very moment:
When a DJ speaks (too often) the background music is abruptly decreased to a low level and as abruptly increased the moment he or she shuts his mouth.
There are obviously no sliding controls for volume mixing :D

I have my own radio editing programme, and prepare the program at home. That means It's possible to take time. I wish to work for the radio in the Phils as well.

Hi and welcome, from another "haggis basher", there's a few of us around blending in with these 'sassanachs', (not many of them actually know how to tell a true Scotsman......dandruff on his shoes!):D
