I'm not sure there is a "best brand". Inside these things they have a pressure sensor (basically a barometer) and a computer monitoring the pressure to determine the systolic and diastolic conditions. A barometer is a very simple device and I suggest they are all the same. I have a weather station which has a barometric pressure sensor and it agrees very closely with nearby weather station.

I had an OMRON brand blood pressure monitor and it pretty much agreed with my Dr's OMRON bp monitor. Some one gave me a LIFE BRAND bp monitor. It agreed pretty much with the OMRON. Note; I say pretty much because if you take blood pressure a couple of time in a row the reading will vary slightly.

Mercury carries the OMRON brand monitor. I would check the prices on Lazada as Mercury seem to be more expensive than other suppliers.

I have an Omron also, works well. If you order one online, don't pay more than 2000 Php. However, there are some really cheap offers, but make sure you don't order one that has only Chinese text.

I would definitely recommend Omron. I've had mine for about 10 years and still functioning and accurate. You can get them on Lazada but beware any under P2k are likely to be copies or just Chinese junk. If it's sold under the LAZMALL banner it should be OK. It's useful to get one with the AC adaptor so you don't have to rely on batteries.

I brought my battery OMRON with me from the US. When I first started using it four years ago I thought it might be bad as my readings were not consistent from day to day. My doctor told me she often had patients question why their home test readings were different from the office readings. What is often described as an accuracy issue is more often a consistency of use issue. I wasn't sitting the same way each day and mostly not correctly.

It's four AA batteries last me about six months using it twice a day.

I ordered and received my omron bp monitor from lazada and once again been scammed, the monitor works ok with the batteries supplied but it was supposed to come with an AC adaptor which was not there.
The last time i ordered from them it was 2 remote controlled ceiling lights and one of the remote controls was missing.
I think that never ordering from lazada again might help in lowering my blood pressure.:rage:

I seem to remember you once ordered a Welder from there and that never did arrive but still you were charged for it, then you were to receive a second one which did not work due to the low voltage you get up where you live? I have this impression that you are one unlucky guy, when life in the land of smiles and stupidity eventually becomes too much for you and you may decide to commit suicide? better you get someone to assist you with this and make sure you at least get that right?

When we were building the house getting into the final stages of it we started to order door hardware and sanitary fitting from both Lazada and Shopee, we were getting exactly the same items that City Hardware supplies at only 25% of their prices, there is a company sells through Shopee called Go2Hardware everything they sell is Stainless Steel, I bought a replacement Tap from them the one we had from CH failed in 3 months this had cost P1250, the replacement which was exactly the same from this G2H was P250, I never did change them out only extracted the cartridge from the new one which fitted perfectly in the existing one, later I was to find out you can buy these on line for around P30 and they seem to be a standard fitting. Even larger Items like our Lotus Mig Welder was priced at P12K from rip off CH on line we got this for P5K and they threw in 1kg of extra weld wire free which is worth P500.

The whole point of my ramblings here is to say of all the numerous things we did buy and the amount would be in the hundreds, we never did encounter any problems that I can recall? only one time when I ordered a Table saw costing P10K this had a fault but we managed to send this back to get our full refund.

My very first encounter with the Philippines around 15yrs ago was with a Pinay who rented a room in my house, she was in her late 30's had trained as a Nurse in her home country but could only get a job here as a carer, she was always blowing her own Trumpet telling me how good she was at her job and so much better than any Nurse trained in UK, at this same time I was to buy an Omron BP monitor and she was to tell me to take my readings as soon as I got out of bed each morning, so I was to take her advice and do this to then find my readings were just great just too good to be true and not typical for a man in his late 50's? eventually I was to find out she was just a Cupid Stunt giving me the worst advice possible and these were false readings, after lying down for a time your readings will always be at their best.

    I don't know.
Although I may be rambling again getting slightly Off Topic but related to medical staff there in PH, I am going through the process to get my young Son there in the Philippines his British Passport, I decided to seek legal assistance with this, doing a little on line research into this there is advice out there that suggests a cost of between £1500 to 2500, however I was to find a company ICS Legal (they have good ratings on trust pilot) that will do this for a fixed price of £850 plus immigration fees of £200 so I have signed up with them, there is many hoops to be jumped through and I have to do most of the work myself, but you can only imagine with their help there will be a lot less chance for this application to be rejected?

So the first and foremost thing that has to be done is a DNA sample from us both, I was given a link to a Gov site to get advice on how to go about this and there they were to say I must use a Lab with an ISO numbered accreditation, so I was to find one that exists there in PH their cost for this service was P14,800 I was then to find one in UK that will do this for £99, so what will happen with this is; I need to go over to a clinic in Edinburgh City for my test to be done there. But for my Son what will happen with his test is; I must give the details of a Doc there in PH for the Lab to send a test kit to him where it will be arranged to have the kit couriered both to him and then from him once the test is done.

So I contacted the Mother of our Son and asked her to go to the local Childs Hospital up in Valencia get hold of a Doc there to ask their permission to use their details for the Test Kit to be sent to them, this kit comes with a little jar and a cotton bud swab to be applied to the inside of the mouth, so when the Doc there was contacted they were to say they have not the training to enable them to do this, (this can only happen in the land of the stupid) so contact was then made with a Doctor in Holy Child he is prepared to do this but only if he is allowed to give our Son a health check, of course we will go ahead with this even though he is conning us, every Man and his Dog knows a persons health has no bearing on their DNA, this health check was done on Friday past, our Son was made to wait 3.5hrs on his turn to see the Doc how unfair is this to a Child?

Your memory seems to be going bad, i ordered a welder from Shopee which never arrived but i got a full refund, then i ordered one from Lazada which arrived and worked ok as the voltage where i live is not low.
Try and remember to keep taking your tablets Dave.

    Dave,

For information which may or may not help but I'll pass it on anyway.

My wife has a son from a previous marriage (also an English guy) and his name is on the kid's birth certificate. He went back to the UK many years ago but we knew the kid is entitled to a British Passport. We never had any of the rigmarole you're talking about. We just applied for a UK Passport for him, supplying originals of the birth certificate, marriage & divorce papers and submitted them all with the passport application. He received the passport about 6 weeks later - no probs, no DNA tests etc. He's now in the UK in basic training with the Royal Navy.

    Hope you get it sorted.
