    Hello my friends,

After some years, my wife is planning a trip home to visit family. I am trying to find a safe, comfortable hotel for her. I heard good things about La Residencia Al Mar, but no one is answering the e-mails I send. Can anyone provide updated contact information for me or tell me whether that hotel is still in business? If LRAM is closed, can someone recommend a safe, comfortable hotel in Dumaguete City? Thank you for your help.

    Hi Texas.
Why not look through the Threads and decide then.
Hotel Nicanor comes recommended, but there many others too. Take a look.....JB

I would not really trust tripadvisor. there are many paid writers and of course business owner posting there. If you cant read between the lines, don't use it as refference.

Specially on the Dumaguete section and the Hotels I would not recommend any from their section.. Honeycomb the No1 Hotel in Dumaguete, Coco Grande with a picture from Bethel ??? ... give me a break...

Tripadvisor is a very good source of information when it comes to hotels.
For Dumaguete the information is not reliable indeed while only 2 or 3 reviews may not be enough to get the right idea.
But the more sources you can get information the better i think.
Also this forum can not avoid that business owners promote their own product under a fake name.

well, the reliable source goes that far that one of my indian writers (writes for me about gastric bypass operations) gets paid for each post there even he never been at any of the places. He has about 500 about the Philippines on TA. Tripavisor is owned by a big travel agency which knows exactly how to get people to the correct channels.

Thank you my friends. One more annoying question: Are there taxis available at Dumaguete airport? When we visited years ago, there were only pedicabs (if I remember correctly).

For what it's worth, I have found tripadvisor to be an excellent source of information and have posted many reviews, negative and positive there myself. There are plenty of negative reviews of Dumaguete hotels, which is why I am seeking information here. Thanks.

there are taxi and car rental Dumaguete Cars - Car Rental, Transfers & Services at the airport.

both not metered. price to center around 200 PHP. most Hotels offer free pick up for guests while the drop off is sometimes charged per person. Happened once to a friend with his family, so he demanded 4 cars.

Nicanor probably the most convenient downtown.

LRAM still open but under construction. depending when you plan to visit it should be finished, same with Hotel Palwa.
