Just this last couple of days I have had to like a few here, reset my Ultra-plan wireless Modem, OK no Probs but I keep getting a message from Windows that say there is another Computer in the house using the same IP address, well some tell me please surely if it is a shared Modem me on a Fixed desk top and my Daughter on the wireless part of the Set up with a laptop, surely we would have the same address? Yes?
I got a little concerned that the message say, to contact my Provider why would it tell me to do that?

Just asking cos I have no other Problems just now. :whistling:

    Hi Jack,

    Try this:-

    a) Turn her laptop off - then you turn on and connect - then turn on her laptop and see if you get the same warning.

    b) If not - reverse the process. Connect her first - the you connect - and see if you get the warning,

It is possible, that your daughters IP (dynamic) address is supplied by the DHCP server (your modem/router) and your computer switches on later and connects to the network/modem/router at a later time. Your computers IP address most likely is a fixed IP (static) which is not changeable by the DHCP server but is the same as your daughter's IP address. OR OTHER WAY AROUND. Your IP is dynamic and hers is static.

You have 2 different IP addresses - 1 unique to each computer.

you can also open up your command prompt and type
    Code:
    ipconfig /renew
    Then enter.
This will have your computer ask for a new IP address from your router.
