Letters from abroad. Hi, we are moving to Valencia pretty soon and we are getting excited. However, we are going through the practicalities and one very important one is receiving letters from family and friends and bank correspondence etc. Does anyone receive letters from their home countries? If not, what other options do you use? Many thanks in advance.
It's always been hit and miss with receiving mail here for me. I have never had a problem with sending things out, it always gets where it needs to be in a reasonable amount of time....though I've never used the government ran post office here to ship anything. Is the post office in Thailand any better? You don't mention what part of the world you are wanting to receive mail from, might help if you give a bit more information (maybe narrow it down to a continent ). Also, give this link a go: Sign up | Dumaguete Info Being a member makes posting easier (doesn't go to moderation) and might help you get a few more replies. Up to you diba.
We get on OK in the bacong area also,it's a good idea to go tou your local post office and tell them where your living and a cell phone number so if there is a problem they will txt you.
usglobalmail.com a private mailbox service in Texas. They will forward your mail anywhere in the world or you can have them scan it to pdf file and download it. Highly recommended.
Normal (snailmail) from UK takes about 2 months, but it does get here. Best to go into the post office in Valencia and introduce yourself.
Thanks! Letters will mainly come from UK. If postal service almost non existent here, how do you get important monthly correspondence such as bank statements delivered to you? It is beginning to look like a nightmare
Thank you but letters will mainly come from our UK banks. Will check it out anyway and posts on here for update
I use online banking to check statements etc. I would go talk to your bank before moving here, to discuss 'change of address' getting new cards delivered etc. Different banks have different rules, and some are reluctant to send new cards by courier - although that does work - I've done it. In general, try to reduce your mail to an absolute minimum.
