    i've heard that there an expat community here in Valencia? what particular place?

    They are scattered around the area, and most don't do much socializing locally. Saturday you will find quite a few in Estrella's Food Haus for lunch, and there is an active AA group that meets on Wednesdays (I think they are still active). Other than that there is no "hang out".
