Rick will be in the area from April 11-15, and I'm curious if anyone here can recommend a taxi driver to help take him around to view some properties?

    Thank you,

    Sue

    absolutely HANDS OFF !!!!

you will see many places of properties distant relatives are selling totally overpriced.
Unless you have some fixed locations, properties and schedule already in mind.
IMHO 4 days is only enough to get a slight overview, with renting a scooter and driving around by yourself.
Avoid each helping hand you don't know who starts a sentence with:

    ... I have a friend...
    ... I know someone...
    ... My Auntie (Uncle)...
    ... Very cheap, Sir...

Thank you, Rhoody -- looking only for a reputable driver. We will have places lined up to go visit, etc. We were looking for a known driver that numerous members would endorse?

Hello Rick & Sue & welcome to the forum.

You are new. You might have missed Rhoody's very valuable insight.

In the few days you have available, just look around. Rent a scooter; buy a bicycle; walk around or take a motorized tricycle. The reliable driver you seek could be just the beginning of your problems.

"We were looking for a known driver that numerous members would endorse". This person probably does NOT exist.

"We will have places lined up to go visit" Unless these places have been recommended by persons already known to you personally - beware!

Read his post again - follow the advise.

You will enjoy your recon trip. Set yourself limited, reasonable and achievable goals. Have fun!

I agree that you will have problems with finding a driver who won't tell you that "there is also..."

If you have your places lined up, you can reach them most likely by public transportation or trike.

There are many opinions about that property-topic. I wrote one about a month ago http://www.dumagueteinfo.com/board/expat-section/house-prices-3838-4.html?highlight=filthy#post32505

If you don't move into a already developed subdivision I recommend to spend at least one day ANd night at that place to get an idea what the future development in that area might be, how many karaoke machines, dogs and chicken are living in the neighborhood, where does the wind come from when your dear neighbors burning leaves, rubbish and old tires (in the event they don't like you).... and and and. A lot to find out in 4 days...

Depending on my schedule, I may be available for this.

You're absolutely right - Rick has told me so many stories about the chickens, the karaoke, etc. He spent a number of days visiting with a family in Catbalogan, and he has wonderful photos of the family dragging out their karaoke machine, everyone singing (except Rick, lol!), eating, the men drinking beer - having such a good time!

We did not consider the "wind factor," so many thanks for that tip!
