This may be of minority interest but from 1st February the Lotto will re-instate the 25% TAX on Lotto tickets - thus they will cost Php25 per line. I wonder if this has anything to do with problems in the economy. But is it a wise move? I think we can judge that by the fact that when they last did it a few years ago they had a reduction in sales of 42%. People are perhaps not that keen to pay 25% tax on buying a Lotto ticket when they have to pay 20% tax if winning above Php10,000.
