Ahhh!! Finally a subject that I can get my teeth into. Thanks for the question.

You will find plenty of what I call "Yellow sh*t", especially that food colouring which USians insist on smearing on imitation sausages, aptly called mouse-turd.

Real, powdered mustard IS available, not universally and at a price. When you find some, don't go overboard in purchasing large quantities of it as it does NOT keep well, even in sealed containers in this climate.

Cans of Colman's powdered mustard are sometimes available in Cebu at the Ayala Center - not far from where I am writing this now. Buy only the smaller can.

An even better idea is the McCormack small jars (about half the price per unit weight). These are located in the spice rack - but not universally. I think I found some at Robinson's in Dumaguete.

I have a separate covered bowl in which my mustard is prepared. New goes onto old and it all sorts of hangs out together in my fridge. The mixing liquid is important and individual preference prevails. I use the surplus brine from dill pickles. Our helper is amused at retaining it for me.

Good luck in your quest. Enjoy!

I shipped Guldens Spicy Brown Mustard over in one of my balikbayan boxes, but that doesn't help you. :D

Ah David ..I knew your ears would perk up when you saw "MUSTARD."..... In Cebu,in Rustans,in basement of Ayala, you can find a pretty good American style mustard.. 907 grams,or 2 pounds,or 32 oz, for less than 100 pesos..Look for the big yellow plastic container ,,duh... Miguel

    Humidity!

 I am told Tom! that the humidity is too much to grow the Mustard Plant. I am no Gardener so I do not know. I just heard it said. I am like a few others, NOT a mustard fan. :(
