For our 3rd (and last) day, we are supposed to go to Manjuyod Sand Bar but since we decided that it will take us 1.5hrs to reach the place and there is no guarantee that we can find a boat to take us to the sand bar only for a few hours, we thought about going somewhere else and that is when I remembered to try out Antulang instead since they offer day tours.

I think Antulang Resort got famous because this is the place where local actor/host Ryan Agoncillo proposed marriage to actress Judy Ann Santos.

Anyway, we immediately boarded a bus bound for "Bayawan" and asked that we be dropped off at "Antulang Crossing". Fare costs Php32/pax as of 04Jun'11.

After that, we hired a "habal habal" to take us to Antulang. The fare costs Php100/pax per way or Php200 RT. I managed to haggle it down to Php350 roundtrip for the 2 of us in 1 motorbike. (contact person: Roboy 09126496039). I asked Roboy to pick us up by 11:30am.

Kookoo's Nest is also along that path. 11kms from the highway and the fare costs Php150/pax/way. Antulang was 8kms away.

The day tour rate at Antulang costs Php200/pax and that is consumable already. However, day tour guests were not allowed to swim in their pools. Too bad! Oh well, we just wanted to see the place really because the picture of the white sand beach looks very promising.

We saw the stretch from above and got excited so off we walked... and walked... and walked (yes, that far!) to get to the beach. Only to get disappointed because the white sand we thought we saw from above were not sand at all but rocks! :(

oh well, we just swam at the beach, snorkeled a little and then went back and took some pictures at the infinity pool, showered and ordered our brunch at the cafe.

Overall, i might not go back to Antulang again because the beach is not very good but the resort itself is a bit ok. Since I am after the beach, I might just go somewhere else.

200 pesos a head and you can't swim in their pool?
Well they know what they can do with that.

El Dorado Beach Resort is the same way. You pay an entrance fee of 150p each which can be used at the restaurant but you cannot use the pool. You can swim in the sea and use their shower and CR for changing.

When did all this start? Whats the reason behind it. I thought El Dorado needed the pool for diving classes?

My guess the reasons are twofold: Make at least 150p off everyone that comes through; keep the riff raff out and people using their property to get to the beach without spending p.

yes. that is what the lady i talked to told me thru SMS. i also took a photo of the pool rules and it says "the resort charges a swimming fee of Php200 for non-check in guest" so i think you need to pay another 200 just to be able to swim at their pools.

The best beach for swimming over there IMOPO is Langub Beach ( Sugar Beach ) near Sipalay, especially if You have Kids. The sand, although not white like some say is more of a light golden brown and very soft under your toes with no rocks to be found. Its a little ways further than Antulang, but well worth the trip. It took Us about 4 hours from Duma but that was a few years ago during the crazy road construction. We stayed at Takatuka resort, but there was a few others I noticed that were also nice including: Bermuda, Sulu Sunset and the Driftwood.... Can't wait To go back someday....cheers

yea Sugar beach is a great place to go, beautiful eastern exposure. Very quiet and secluded and as you say i think the best swimming beach I know of because of slope. A lot of the beaches are too shallow for good swimming, Sugar has that slope that gets you in the water

You're absolutely correct, a perfect gradual slope before it even starts to get deep. Very quiet beach with no jet skis and no Karaoke allowed from what I've been told....cheers
