i just learned that dieter hartman, a german national, was shot last nite and he needs 2 bags of type O+ blood for an operation. he's at silliman medical center. thanks guys...
Try redcross building and ask for 'Michelle' she's the head of office and a very good person im sure she can help you. Im sorry about it im Rh- :(
A shame he isn't in Cebu right now. I could help out tomorrow afternoon. I'm afraid my blood will be quite worthless (and possibly incriminating) after tomorrow night.
I'm obviously joking here. When I make my way back to Dumaguete on the 6th you can give me a call if the blood is still needed. O+, 35 male, no known medical issues, immunization records on hand. Send me a message for my number.
An O- person can donate blood to an O+ person, but not the other way around. O- is regarded as a UNIVERSAL DONOR as it contains no AB or Rhesus antigens. It is the 'go to' in an emergency. [AB+ is a UNIVERSAL RECIPIENT as it has no AB or Rhesus antibodies]. In any donation of blood the donor and recipient should be cross-matched to ensure aggregation of the blood (clotting) does not take place for the recipient. This can be caused by a major incompatibility (such as giving AB to an O) or by minor blood groups which are usually of no significance but can be rarely. In an absolute emergency, with no time to cross-match, it is O- which is the relatively safe one.
