A large number of motor vehicles are sold this year, especially motorbikes, and I noticed that there are motorbikes sold that comes with a low quality muffler. These mufflers goes noisy after 3 months of use and it adds the city's noise pollution. I can recall that there has been a sound emission test required by the Land Transportation Commission before, but where is it now? The buying public must have also be informed about the low quality mufflers that needs FREQUENT maintenance (at least twice a year) to maintain the motorbikes sound emission. I don't really how they measured that (in dB I think), but there has been a law about this before which I think that needs to be revisited, just like the helmet law.
This is a growing issue since most of the young people are driving in the city at night, some worked from call centers, and used to stroll along the residential subdivisions with muffler sound pretty annoying. I think the city government should look into this, with Dumaguete City Police Chief reimposing the sound emission test law,

    What do you think?

A lot of the motor bikes here have induction and exhaust noise, a lot have hot cams adding to the noise and basically no air cleaner or air box just a foam filter, that gives it the throaty sound, yes noise test is in db I think most countries keep their exhaust limit below 5bd I would say these scooters are in the range of 12db or more. They think they sound hot, they need to get on the web and see how a real 4 cylinder bike sounds, I think they would screw on the original muffler and stop pretending, I have heard one or two four cylinder bikes here in Bacolod lately, I must admit I prick my ears up when one goes by, you can’t beat a 4 cylinder bike or a V8 car sound.

PS:Brain i think your dB are wrong, normal talking is around 60dB.
In my old life when i was touring w/ Motorhead, and we were in clubs where we could not use our own PA-System, the minimum requirement was 125dB with clear sound. Show was run at 120 (peaks 125db), Support act got 110dB max, what is still a decent volume for a Metal-Show

I know, Rechel told me that. But nothing to worry, it was just the typical lady-chikka about shoes, husband underwear everywhere, hairstyle and soap-operas....
