I am a US citizen headed to the Philippines without my Filipina wife.

Anyone know what the visa options are for me.

A Balikbayan is out (wife must be with you) so, (others here will know more) I would have thought a Tourist Visa extended.

How do you obtain the 6 month tourist visa these days? Do you still have to go down to the main immigration office to start the process?

You can get 29 days at airport immigration and possibly 59 days if you ask for it. Then you can renew for another 30 every month at a BI office until 36 months have passed, after which you must leave for a day and start over again. Many people spend the rest of their lives here, legally, doing this but I’m sure you didn’t have that long a stay in mind!
