    Manila - The Philippine National Police (PNP) has received a new equipment and bomb sniffer dogs, worth a total of 1.8 billion PHP. - -
    The new equipment includes two single-engine helicopters, 107 patrol jeeps, 349 motorcycles, 9,000 short firearms, 42 light machine guns, 3,405 bullet proof vests, combat helmets and 124 handheld radios.
    In addition to the equipment, the PNP also acquired 48 dogs, which are trained to detect explosives. The new equipment was presented to the press on Monday at the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan Municipality in Taguig City, by PNP Chief General Oscar Abayalder. Abayalde said in his speech: "The new equipment underlines PNP's commitment to serve the public, which is another step in our improvement program to further strengthen our police force." PNP spokesman Police Colonel Bernard Banac says, "The two helicopters will be assigned to the Elite Special Action Force, while the other equipment will be distributed nationwide to police forces."
