There are lots of roadworks and delays on the road south of Bacolod. Does anyone know the condition of the road up through Murcia - Don Salvador Benedicto - Bunga - San Carlos? I wonder if that would be a better alternative.
Heavy rain in Bacolod last night - not sure how widespread.
    Any info would be appreciated.

Hawk, in the last two weeks i have been to Bacolod twice on my bike,, and taken all 4 routes,, Bais-Mabinay-Kabankalan-Bacolod is a mess, lots of rough gravel roads between Mabini and Bais.. Going via Canlaon is a nice ride and you only hit construction at Pontevedra. Around the top thru San Carlos, Calitrava, Toboso, Escalante, Cadiz , Victorias is a rough road covered in sugar cane and rough as guts north of San Carlos,, Best route i found is San Carlos, Don Salvador Benedicto.. bit rough for about 15 kilometers this side of San Carlos but the rest up over the mountain is great..

I always travel Bais-Mabinay-Kabankalan-Bacolod as I drive a car, have tried the other ways but find them longer in time, I do Bacolod to dumaguete in 4.5 hours

Route via San Carlos would probably take more time because you're unable to drive fast up in the mountains. But the view from there worth seeing really!

Thanks everyone. We drove up on the Mabinay Kabankalen route and spent over an hour in traffic due to roadworks south of Bacolod.
Returned via Murcia, San Carlos - it took about 7.5 hrs but we were not in a rush and really enjoyed the drive. Much better roads and impressive scenery.

Mabinay Kabankalen took us 6 hrs with a coffee stop and the roadworks (that's from Valencia).
