Most of us will be aware that the Philippines has laws that entitle senior citizens to all kinds of privileges. However, I keep hearing from other expats that they can also avail of the senior citizen rebates, and some even show their senior citizen card issued (in error) by some government agency. I humbly offer my advice in this matter to not "go with the flow" and accept these senior citizen rebates in restaurants etc. even when offered. The Law is quite clear on this: The rebates are meant for "citizens of the Republic", which is not the same as "residents of the Philippines". Now, in all likelihood, nobody is going to convict you of the "abuse" mentioned below if you occasionally stand in a shorter line with other seniors, but accepting financial relief is in my opinion an entirely different matter. In case someone wants to read the whole RA 9994, or any other, like RA 7432 it builds on, Republic Acts can be found here: https://elibrary.judiciary.gov.ph/republic_acts
