Morning all, Sometime around 4am this morning, there was an ambush of three men on a motorcycle outside the ice plant in the Cangmatin area of Sibulan. We are informed that; three men waited in hiding along the side of the road and opened fire when the motorcyclists approached. The driver was killed outright by a single round to the head, one of the passengers was shot in the side of the head around the eye area, he is now in a critical condition but survived (so far). The third man escaped without injury. It has been a really bad/sad time in Sibulan over this year, first with the terrible flood, then the earthquake just offshore and now a shooting in the village..... This is, unfortunately part of life in the RP as we all know and of course we have to accept it, not happily accept it, but; it is the way things are. What is upsetting and moreover worrying for the residents of Cangmatin; is that, in this case, the gunmen were firing randomly in a populated area with the majority of houses along this road being of wooden construction. Therefore, potentially the stray rounds could easily hit unintended targets either in their homes, or in the road on the way to church etc. Does anyone have any further information on this subject as it would be nice to know if these men have been intercepted. James.
These armed and ambushing gunmen should just plain be a bit more considerate! All joking aside, a sad tale - even though one of many in the Philippines
Martin Luther King, JFK, Anwar Sadat etc., were assasinated. These men were shot. I'm staying not too far from where this happened and as per my wife's family, these things have been getting more frequent.
LBC teller shot dead I hear that at the height of Dumaguete festival, 1pm to 2 pm on 19th October 2012, the woman manning the unguarded LBC office at Sibulan on the National Highway was shot dead in an armed robbery involving at least two persons. Our sincere condolences go out to her family and friends. Callous in the extreme the woman was six months pregnant and unnecessarily shot dead. This is an unconfirmed report, but entered here as I have not seen it reported elsewhere.
Man, back in Houston Texas they show the homicide reports every morning at 6am on local TV. If you had a relative that didn't make it home the night before, you watched that show. Only one killing a day is unheard of.
