    God Morning All

    A "Dumb" question if I may ..

If I were to decide to live in Sibulan and my 11 year old daughter was going to go to Foundation Uni, what is the best and safest way to get her there and back?

We will have to use public transport until we can get our cars down form pampanga. I do not think I should be keen for her to travel on her own, how does everyone else do it here?

Are trikes an option or some kind of service and has anyone any idea of what it is likely to cost per trip?

    Many thanks

Most parents that I have observed will bring and pickup the young ones themselves. Even my sister-in-law drives her children to school even though they are old enough to get themselves to school and back. Not to alarm you but remember that Dumaguete is a port city. There are a lot of people just passing through. Some fleeing Mindanao, others looking for a hand out on the way to other places. Many know that Dumaguete is a university town and you know what they are looking for. I suppose you could hire someone but how do you trust them during the break-in period. This is why I am amazed at expats who say they do not want to live near their relatives. It may be though at times but it certainly has its advantages.

If you are not willing to do something yourself you can always hire someone here but...I hope you, your wife or GF, whatever the case may be are going to be available for escort service. Sibulan is just far enough away that if the pedicab or easyride breaks down you will be worried. Perhaps you can car pool with Reedee but she will be on the opposite side of Dumaguete. You have a lot of decisions to make.

Pedro, many thanks. I am only looking for an interim solution until I can get our cars down from Pampanga which will probably take a few weeks in all reality ue to our business schedules.

You make some good points, we do not allow her to travel unsupervised now and do not intend to change that.

I guess a motorbike may be the best interim answer. We do not have any relatives down here so we are coming in "cold"

    Regards

I'm not sure about Foundation, but some of the private schools here offer a van service to pick-up and drop-off students.

    PPilot,

How about St. Paul University? a little bit closer from Sibulan.

It's not that hard, I used to study in Foundation Univ. during my college days and I'm living from sibulan too. Just take a ride on "easyride" from sibulan to dumaguete where it usually stop in public market bldg. 3 (terminal). Then take another ride (pedicab) to bring you to Foundation Univ usually it takes you 15 minutes. And vise versa in going home.

an 11 yr old girl by no means should travel alone from sibulan to Foundation hire a helper/girl that will take here there and back I have done this for years. Or rent a bike and take her there back and forth. If you need a bike you can easily rent one here from 4-6k per month
