The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) vowed to send home around 24,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) stuck in quarantine centers in Metro Manila starting Monday upon the instructions of President Rodrigo Duterte.

In a statement, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said the OFWs whose swab or reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test results are negative will be sent home in the next three days under the OFW Return Program.......

The OFWs only need to present their quarantine passes from the Bureau of Quarantine or from the PCG's negative list from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) to qualify in the return program.

Starting Monday, bus trips to Bicol, Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Central Luzon will be made available.

Also, flights to Cagayan de Oro, Tacloban, Bacolod, Davao, Cebu, Iloilo, and Zamboanga will be arranged for flights until Wednesday."

No criticism of this - the President understandably wishes OFWs to be re-united with their families and it is HIS call.

But with test reliability, second positives and other factors, it would be wise for people, even on small islands, to take care of themselves. I will not again outline HOW to take care but those who got it before know it still and those who continue to ignore or dispute advice are on their own. I think it best not to act as if we have reached the end (For Brits: 'They think it's all over.....')

Would you expect to see situations arise, given the measure being taken in the Philippines, where pockets of people are being declared sick and being isolated? My uneducated guess would be yes, since nothing being done on a country level is really a 100% foolproof way of ensuring someone can't contract the disease.
