⌛ strange creature, any ideas?

We pulled up this weird thing when fishing off Sibulan and Dumaguete on monday. Have no idea what it is but the crew were going to eat it anyway.
Does anybody have any ideas?

That is a cowfish, sometimes called a boxfish. Normally it is a foodfish with a delectable liver priced by fishermen. In some areas in the Pacific, they could be toxic due to ciguatera poisoning by feeding on toxic organisms.

Thanks for all the help. I can see an exact duplicate picture in Wikipedia, calling the blue spotted one a Thornback cowfish. Truly a comical thing to pull up. Was having a fishless day on one of Happy Freds fishing trips, until the crew pulled up a few tiny things including this beastie.

 

Well, it looks like something I had eaten when I was a kid. It looks delicious.
