Seems like a few foreigners here are experiencing strokes recently. I will post my mistakes leading up to a stroke (in Sept. 9 yrs ago). I stopped taking cholesterol meds when I got here. I never got a health check up for years. My cholesterol level went very high. I had a lot of stress and anxiety an I let it bother me. I was exercising at the gym regularly but very little aerobics. I ignored the constant headaches in the back of my head. I ignored the numbness in my left arm. I ignored what was probably a short mini stroke (dizzy, almost fell down). BOOM! My life changed forever. FUBAR.
Thanks for the reminder Pat, As the UK experiences extreme heat, topping 40c in some parts, the warnings went out. Hydration is very important in hot weather, drink lots of water and avoid to much alcohol was the message given here. The elderly and children to seek shade and keep out the midday sun, we are never to old to learn thanks Pat.
YesPat a common occurrence unfortunately. However, the cause can often be very difficult to find....l had a very minor stroke in 2018,similar symptoms to yours....after 6 months of EXTENSIVE testing they found a TINY hole between 2 sides of my heart,PFO .......simple closure procedure and good as gold. My neurologist said PFO is common in up to 35% of population, congenital as we are all born with it but often don't close up completely. He said if everyone over 50 was taking low dose aspirin everyday the number of strokes would be greatly reduced. I am fit, healthy, and active and aspirin(100mg) is all l take. Perhaps chat to the doctor as my stroke occurred after chopping wood all day with a chainsaw.
