    Why is there not a profusion of taxis in the Philippines as there are in almost every other country in the world? (I mean cars, not hubble hubbles.)

    They do have them in Manila, Cebu, and the larger cities. When I lived in Manila, and didn't yet have a car, we used one on a daily basis.
