Does anyone else bank with Lloyds in the UK? Since November last year I've had many problems doing the telephone security checks, and have had to phone their helpline and get them to do a manual bank transfer. It's a PITA and costs about P500 a time in cell load. It's apparently a problem with Lloyds system and affects many users.

UK banks in general are a problem - and if they discover you are not in the UK they will close your account.

    It will only get worse.

They have overloaded their systems by forcing everyone to bank online and they cannot cope. I have not used Lloyds much in the last year and the one time I did so, very recently, they went offline for a few hours mid-transaction! That caused a problem with the remittance company I was using but it was eventually resolved.

But how do you phone the UK? I suggest you use mytello as it's brilliant, very easy to set-up and cheap. Any money you credit to mytello remains until used and is not 'removed' (stolen?) monthly as was the case with skype.

Another idea is to set up a Standing Order with Lloyds to transfer a regular amount (if that is what you usually do) to WISE (or other remittance companies?) and then no further need to access your Lloyds account online. The SO can be weekly or monthly or other periods. You can set it to run for a specific period of time or keep it open-ended.

Thanks for the info, I'll give it a try. I doubt if it would work with the actual security check but it'll keep my phone bills down.
