Pretty much refuse to go to Dumaguete in the morning or afternoon because of it. Think it will only get worse here. Might start to look for somewhere else to move to in the near future.

The article admits that walking is a viable option but neglects to mention that the traffic has no respect for pedestrians. When and if they fix the traffic problem I hope they make the city more pedestrian friendly. Lots of people walk and the city is small enough that lots more should be walking.

No, I'm fine with everyone taking a trike. That concrete on the side of the main roads is my special VIP motorcycle lane meant for passing slow/stopped traffic.

this morning walked from Noreco to Market, had to walk in the road to get past bloody bikes and cars parked on the side walk. Never change this town for the better, only gets worse.
Then when I got to the market I slid on the wet down slope, almost landed on my arse.

I saw a TMO with a ticket book today. He was actually filling out a ticket.
No I do not have a photo to prove this but it happened. Really!

Dumaguete has a very nice brick walking path along the water now extending I am told 2.4 kilometres from the tourist police/press club building on the south and now open almost all the way to the harbor on the north, adjacent to the boulevard. Only a couple of local regulars walk around 8:15am and now I am the only foreigner (a European guy used to walk very fast but I haven't seen him for a month or so) . Walk way is normally very clean, dog poo maybe once every two weeks as the locals let their dogs go on the grass above, of course no pooper scooper. The city has planted large planters along the way and it is surprisingly pleasant, except for the sun, if there are no clouds. Works for me.
