I accept I am a pleb - so does anyone know where I can buy tinned pears, preferably in unhealthy syrup? I have an urge to drown them in custard.

I am not sure which part you agree with 'kiwidude' but thanks anyway as I am told when I get 500 ratings Mr Wyre awards a Rolex watch.

Out of a custard tin.

But, more informatively, I have a 300g tin of 'LION' custard from Lee Plaza, near the bread, at about P395.

On the can it says 1 tablespoon per pint of milk but I found that produced coloured milk - I found 3 tablespoons to be best but it is individual taste as I like runny custard and not the thick type you could walk on.

If you can't get any then I am happy to donate 3 tablespoons of the powder to you as I know the desire for custard can be overwhelming and induce hallucinations and insomnia.

Btw, it can be made in the home but I have not yet trained my wife to make it.

    Next stop ... sherry trifle!

    My preferred method also.

But the home made version is (in brief):
    1. Separate 4 eggs, putting the yolks into a large bowl.
    2. Add 30g caster sugar and whisk until combined.
    3. Add the 30g plain flour and ½ tsp vanilla extract and whisk until combined.
    4. Gently heat 300ml full fat milk until warmed but not boiling. Stir regularly to ensure that it does not burn.
    5. Once the milk is warm, remove from the heat and gradually add to the large bowl a bit at a time. Whisking each addition in completely before adding more.
    6. Once combined, put the mixture into the pan and return to a very gentle heat.
    7. Continue to cook, whisking constantly, until the custard has reached your desired thickness – this usually takes about 10 minutes but will depend on how runny you want your custard to be. You must whisk the custard constantly to avoid it going lumpy.
    8. Remove from the heat and continue to whisk for another minute.
I think your: "1. Pour Water" recipe is better.

I don't know if you were kidding me or not but I had never seen it here and assumed you could not find it. I figured it must be out of stock. I usually notice things like that in the stores because I cook a lot. I make it all the time anyway or something similar depending on the type pie, when I make custard or lemon meringue, chocolate meringue or coconut pie. If you have never made it you should try it, you would be amazed at the difference.

I was enquiring where to buy it over here (Dumaguete) Never seen it here neither. The only place I could find it was in the UK bought in tins or packets. My wife has never seen it before until she lived in England. Notmyrealnames has kindly informed me where to buy it and make it.
