They’re scruffy (not hot), overworked, and they charge an arm and a leg plus your ten toes.

We have the City Vet. who charges nothing but you just have to deal with the place which is located on the second floor of the public market, a noisy and not-so-classy place. Private vets are many but I am satisfied with the services of the vet. in Veterinarians in Practice, located along South National Highway.

Yes ..... I think sometimes we forget that P1000 is only 20 bucks which anywhere in the west wont go very far. I see this with tipping too, a 100 pesos tip is only 2 dollars, why hold back?

We are not in the "west" . Over paying/ over tipping messes up the local economy. Tipping 1/3 of what someone makes in a day is out of line. It's just reality.

Do you find that 300 pesos a day are a fair salary? I agree that tipping "too much" can spoil it for all of us foreigners who live here. How much we tip is individual from person to person and I also think it depends if we visit a restaurant or the vet. I don't tip the vet but always tip in a restaurant. My "bush" mechanic who is available 24/7 if I have a problem, and do a great job to less than a tenth of the price where I come from get a good tip, he is every peso worth. I try to use my common sense but I like to give a good tip for a good job/service and honesty. Frankly, I'm not one of the foreigner here who wants to keep the salary low, I would be happy to see improvements in living standard, education and so on, even it will be a little more expensive for my living here

If you give a 2 dollar tip it is shared out to all the girls waiting. I rally dont think this is going to mess up the economy. 2 bucks for goodness sake. Give it with a smile on your face.
