Hi All, Just coming to resettle I hope in Dumaguete in August after 23 years in Hong Kong. My question is probably one I should know, but want to be sure. Can I on a 30 day free entry get a 2 month visa extension and continue to get more two month extensions? Thanks for any replies and looking forward to getting there. Terry
After 30 days you apply for the Visa Waiver for 29 days, then you go to Bi monthly Extensions, best to do 14 days before your 30 days are up given what is happening just at this time in Dumaguete
You also have the option of getting a 6 month extension rather than three 2-month extensions. The cost will be the same as three 2-month extensions, but you will not have to go to the Bureau of Immigration (BI) as often. Extensions are cheaper because the "Express Lane Fee" was eliminated, but now you do not get your passport back on the day you apply. BI holds your passport for 5 to 7 days while they do a background check and process the visa extension.
OR, tell the BI officer before handing them your passport you want a 59 day Visa. They will direct you to the office for a short wait and you will have to pay. Then your 1st and subsequent extension can be 1, 2, or 6 months, until you reach the 36 month maximum.
Thanks to all who replied. Appreciate it! Sorry but I also need a ticket out of The Philippines? I can not just do a one way right?
Correct, except you CAN do a one way in (say from LAX to NAIA) provided you also have a ticket out (could be a cheap ticket from Clark to Malaysia so long as it shows you have a plan to leave the country)
Thanks for the info. Will probably just book a RT back to Hong Kong in case there are any problems getting the visa extension
Just noticed the opening poster @Terry is from Hong Kong. TAKE NOTE OF THIS BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW IF IT IS STILL IN EFFECT Guidelines on the Entry of Temporary Visitors to the Philippines
