Anyone know where I can pick-up a small (2.5 or 3k), quiet-type generator, preferably Japanese new or slightly used.

Polaris offers some types. I looked (and listened) to a 5 KVA generator, but the noise is considerable.
I guess Omega has them also.
Forgot to ask there last week.

Last time I was in Omega they had some small gasoline powered ones which are smaller but run more quiet. I have a 5 kva diesel its loud but you dont really notice it after a while

If you know how to build the proper enclosure for a generator and install the right exhaust it will cut the noise level at least by 1/2!

3k or I should have put 3 kVA for kilo Volt Amperes...the amount of electrical output that I desire... Unfortunately, the cost will be nowhere near P3,000.

just sharing here, electric generators are properly rated in watts (w) or kilowatts (kw). power transformers are rated in volt-amperes or kilo volt-amperes (KVA), (if you are curious, catch a glimpse on those cans up on poles and you will see KVA there)...they are not interchangeable but they are relatives of the same family tree...
