Well , this is my first question in this forum.
It is strange my friends , but i have decided for the first part of my trip (Boracay , Cebu , Bohol , Panglao) , but i'm not sure that Negros will be the perfect place to end it.I decided not to go to Palawan during my last week in the Philippines , but spend it in Negros oriental.
I have read about activities , must see etc.. about this area , but what about beautiful beaches?
When i say beautiful i mean soft sand , swimmable with crystal clear water and the most important...dotted with cocopalms. Is it in Negros? In Siquijor?Or Apo?

I'm sorry if i seem to be stressed but Greece is very far away and i'm not sure i can come back to the Phils another time , so i want this one and only time to be perfect!
    So...will i love Negros?

(I prommiss a trip report and nice photos when i come back)

    White beaches in Negros

If you have been to Boracay and Panglao Islands, then you have already seen some very white and beautiful beaches. So why not go to Negros to see something else?

We do have white beaches in Negros Oriental though. You just need to go south of Dauin, down to Malatapay or Zamboanguita. In Dauin the beaches are black due to vulcanic sand (but what is wrong with that anyway?) and closer to Dumaguete there are not really any beaches to speak of at all.

Then there is the other side of Negros, Negros Occidental. Here you will find some nice white beaches in the area around Sipalay. Personally though, I find that Dumaguete City and the mountaneous interior of Negros are much more interesting than the beaches, which the Island has to offer.

    Best regards, Lars

    Sugar Beach , Sipalay

go2dbeach and fundiver , Mabuhay . I agree with fundiver . Sipalay is a great stretch of beach . San Juan area in Siquiour and if you can get to Camiguin Isl. or near Surigao ( surf central of the RP`s ) those are some nice beaches . Boracay is so crowded and there have to be other small nice beaches all over . Share the secrets if you know them . Regards Kevin

Up in the mountains. Lake danao has a great beach! Great view up there too!
Nobody even knows how deep the lake is. Also, that rumor about the "Philippine loch ness" up at the lake. Is another reason to go there.

Boracay is too over developed. Go there for two days only if, you are determined to go there. Stay down around boat station 3.

If you have been to Boracay, you will be very disappointed with Dumaguete area (this includes Dumaguete, Dauin, Bais, Siquijor, and Apo--micro-sized beach), if your main focus is in finding the type of beaches you are referring to.
Dumaguete may be a good location to settle down for expats, but perhaps not so good for brief visits, unless you are a diver.
If you are beach lover, I suggest you rethink and go to Palawan, El Nido.
You will find it an altogether different experience in terms of scenery.
No one comes away from that place disappointed, even for seasoned travellers who have been to the nice beaches in Thailand.

    Dumaguete and turism

I don´t quite agree with this. It really depends, what you want to do and see on your vacation. If your only focus is pristine white beaches, then surely other islands have more to offer than Negros.

Negros Oriental has a lot else to offer though in my opinion. Hiking or quad-biking in the mountains, great nature scenery in many places, 3 golfcourses and of course, not least, Dumaguete city itself. I have yet to find ANY city in the Philippines, that is even half as charming as Dumaguete.

Dumaguete might not be an interesting place to stay for a turist for several weeks, but for 2, 3 or 4 days, it surely is. One can stay in one of the many fine hotels in Dumaguete city and use this as a base for making excursions in the daytime to places like Valencia, Twin Lakes, Tombobo Bay, Bais, Mabinay, maybe even all the way down to Bayawan just to see the landscape. Then when back in town, one can take a shower in the hotel, change and then go out and eat in one of the many fine restaurants, then finish the evening in a bar or in Why Not disco.

    travelling

Yes apparently he is into beaches, but other people will read this thread as well

Apart from that, I am also not ashamed to try and move people a little bit. In a thread in a different forum, a guy was planning his first visit to the Philippines and was very obsessed with going to "some of the small islands".

I told him, that in my opinion it is nice to stay for a few days in a small island, but since there is nothing really to do there except swim, eat and drink, he should not spend his entire vacation on very small islands.

A little bit of the same is the case here in my opinion. This greek guy is realising, that he will properly only go to the Philippines one time in his life. Well if that is the case, then there are many other things than beaches, that he should see here.

They have really nice beaches in Greece as well, so if he is only interested in beaches, then why not just stay at home? A beach is more or less the same, nomather where in the world it is situated.

Well , you are very helpfull!!
Palawan was in my plans , but the flights do not fit. I have booked my flight to Boracay , so flying to Palawan i should stay in Busuanga , and 2 days later fly to El Nido , and then Puerto Princessa , and another flight to Cebu to fly back home...I don't know...too many flights!

I read what you all say..You are right Lars , i love beaches but maybe i should try to see something more than this.Boracay , Bohol will be enough and from what i read Negros offers really different things.Well, i will find a nice beach somewhere , won't i? It's a big island!
We have wonderful beaches here in Greece , i only wish they were dotted with cocopalms that i love!

    I will keep reading.Thank you!

If you are going to Puerta Princesa, drop by Honda Bay. The islands there have nice beaches...dotted with palm trees, secluded, and accessible.
(I was in Greece a couple of years ago and visited an island with just rocky shores.
I enjoyed the historical sites in Athens though).
