⌛ Why Not Disco - The IQ Special

Why Not Disco has a great gimmick drink special. It is basically making fun of the fact that Rum is cheaper than Coke...

They run the IQ Special on regular weekdays I think, I do not think that it is valid on weekends. And probably not on Wednesdays either.

I wish they had a beer special a tripple beer.... mmmmmmmmmmmm

 

The last time we were there we met up with our close French-filipino expat friends living in Dumaguete,we went out for a meal with them with also their little daughter . Then came the conversation rolling into the topic of the MUSIC BOX or the WHY NOT now as it is called, and was said as not a nice place anymore like before , because of it's newly acquired status as hub / a good pick up place concentrated of different prostitutes in Dumaguete as hang out .How true is this? Any comments please.

 

It is true they are out side waiting for foreiners on there own.
They even come inside and sit by me even with my wife sat next to me.
Of course I ignored her

 

My goooooosh ,must be really aggressive having strength to sit nxt to you with presence of your wife , d*mn ,can't stand that .If wife wasn't there guess she'll probably start chatting you up .

Read this ladies ,hmmmm never allow your men to hang out in WHY NOT alone,danger , danger!

We know good boys don't ever do stupid things,but better be all aware and quick in all angles:D

This is also what I've heard. They are usually young girls hanging outside Why Not. I just wish the owner refrain "them" from soliciting inside the establishment.

If someone just sits near with my husband, she should be frightened with my tiger look..... She should be shaking and leave in a flash and wish she never had met me.

Many years ago my wife(japanese) and I were standing in a show line
at the Flamingo casino in Las Vegas. There was a big window looking out
to the street with people walking up and back. Most were women and my
wife asked why so many women were alone. hehehe I told her they were
working , you should have seen her face....

 

The WhyNot gets really creepy that way after about midnight. Even being a physically fit and streetwise man, I get feeling very uncomfortable. The hookers generally won't come on the property especially earlier on in the day or evening (the disco is an exception). When they do, they are pretty harmless. A few polite but direct words to let them know you're not interested and they are gone eg "I'm sorry that chair is reserved for my gf".
I don't know why Markus puts up with it or maybe he gives the order to the security but they don't enforce it. I have noticed that the Ho's and the other technically prohibited nags selling stuff will keep there distance when Markus is around and the security guards do a more vigilant job...but when Markus is away, the kittens will play. He's losing a lot of customers by allowing that bull sh*t to hang around and inside his business. My brother and I and many, MANY other safety conscious foreigners abandon the place after about 10 PM. The pedicab/pimps in front are the worst. I'll walk 5 blocks rather than accept a ride from them. They'll take you to the dangerous Tocino for a pit stop on your way home at night whether you asked them to or not.

sorry that I can't agree, he is loosing no single custumer, for each one who is not going ther for safty reason, two others are coming on the search for "physical-body-liquid-exchange" reasons. I used the pedicaps in front of "why not" so many times the last 3 years (alone as a long-nose), and nobody took me to any Tocino-station, even I was lasing. The only real reason why people go to why not in the evening are the girls, there are better pool-tables, cheaper beer, better music (for the the average age of typical male pale why not guests) and good food in many other places in town. Whatever Markus tells his guests and friends, he is long enough here and would know ways to avoid it, he is a businessman and knows that those girls are one of the mainreason why the place is running. He does not earn with the locals, zipping 7 hours on a red horse. As girly bars are not accepted in Dumaguete he found the perfect niche to attract many long-noses and people with money. He is doing a great job in that, even I still don't get over the flip-flop thing. All this free-lancing streetgirls and drivers help him with earning money, take them out of the disco, the drivers in front away and in 3 month the place is ruined.

Two years ago I cme to DMGTE for a visit. I new no place, only the Bethel, it was full, so I got a room at the Honeycomb. Next door of course to the why not. I went there often at first,(same music week after week.) but less and less later on. I observed the folowing.

working girls are indeed encouraged to come. The gay pimps are the mostly rude ones, outside or inside they will approach you if alone, sometimes if you are with someone.. The tricycle girls are easy to ignore. Markus brings bus loads of resort guests there for evening entertainment, of all sorts. I saw the girls there all times of the day, not so many, but in the Internet cafe, and on the patio out front. Despite this, it is a safe place to go I think. I never felt endangered or put upon by anyone. There are all kinds of people who go there, students, married couples, locals and randy male tourists.

I go there very infrquently now with my wife and her daughter and friends. My honey is not a club goer type, but she likes to watch the pokpok girls perform and the bayots prance around. Everyone dances no one hassles anyone that I see. If the pole dancing gets too riske', they dim the lights and change the music.

And whether you know it or not, the waitresses are available for ladies drinks with customers and VIP rooms. Clean fun,no hanky panky, I am told by the waitresses. no personal experience! This is not advertised, so I don't know how people find out about it, unless the official tours get tipped off.

 

Well, Why Not Music Box is a by me frequent visited place,when I am in DGTE. Mostly by Old habit I Guess. But it is a place with for me fun to watch. A lot of lokal girls and boys. A place for me to study the menu. But I allways eat at home.The only time I really was doing a no Way to the place, was around the millenium change. When the D-jockie and also singer of one of the band who was playing there was wearing a big jacket with a big Nazi-cross markings, he probably have got from one of the young germans walking around there.At least these guys was having a lot of fun and cheers when he was showing the thing.I was also talking to Markus about it,and in a week or so he was changing the coat.
At least I have not seen it again.

Basically I dont think people advertising "the rising sun" will be so popular in the Phil either.

But the prosti's have never done me anything bad, but I have to admit that the pimps is not my favorite guys.
