Although it’s a fact that this small Southeast Asian archipelago is better known for its beaches – those in Boracay, Palawan, Surigao and Cebu to name but a few – or being the proud site of the purportedly eighth wonder in the world, Banaue Rice Terraces, if you want your travel experience in the Philippines to be entirely unique and something to proudly share with your friends back home, why not try Ongpin?

You’ll find Ongpin in Metro Manila, which is, by the way, the capital city of the Philippines. Traveling and visiting Ongpin won’t be much of a hardship if you’re not exactly reared for country living since Ongpin is a highly urbanized town and anything that you’d want, you’ll probably be able to find in Ongpin.

If you’re in Metro Manila already and would indeed like to include a visit to Ongpin as part of your travel itinerary, all you have to do is take a cab or tell your driver to direct you to Binondo, Manila, where Ongpin is located. Ongpin is very much popular with everyone in Manila so you need not worry about getting lost on your way there.

If you plan to bring your car with you, be aware that most streets of Ongpin are quite narrow, filled with people and not usually open to side parking so when you get there, you’ll be primarily traveling by foot. But don’t worry, I assure you that walking the streets of Ongpin is much, much better than exploring the town behind the car glass window.

Activities That Should Be Part Of Your Ongpin Visit
There are a lot of things that you could do in Ongpin so in this article, we’ll be listing people’s favorite Ongpin activities.

Shopping – Ongpin is a shopping paradise, especially for people who are fond of collecting Chinese artifacts or Eastern inspired furniture and decorations. Simply roam the streets of Ongpin and you’re sure to find something you like.

Most stores allow their customers to haggle and bargain so if you know a few words of Mandarin, Hokkien or Cantonese, do make sure to use it because shop owners love it when they hear someone trying his or her best to speak in their language. The main language used in Ongpin, however, is Hokkien and not Mandarin, although that’s the official language of China.

Eating – Take your pick from any of the various restaurants of Ongpin. If you don’t know what to order, just ask the waiter for the restaurant specialty and be a little adventurous with your orders, okay?
