I'm looking for some hardwood chips. I want to try smoking some meats, fish.
Ive checked a couple of stores but just get dumbfounded looks and the usual " out of stock" or "we no have"

I don't know if this is a possibility, but have you ever tried mahogany? Coconut charcoal also adds a wonderful flavor.

Last time I was there I gave one of gunthers cooking school instructors several different bags of wood chips in exchange for some smoke meats he does on the side. I forget His name, but maybe you can go into casablanca and ask for him. Maybe he knows where to get some. I'll be sending a door to door box to my wife Pretty soon and I'd be glad to put a couple bags in there for you. Pecan is my favorite, but I can also pick up cherry, mesquite, hickory or applewood. They're only 1 or 2 pound bags, so they dont take up a whole lotta space and cost only $5 a bag.... Cheers
