Had a good time in Taipei back in 2001. It's a strange place though. If you don't know where to go, you won't find anything of what you are looking for. If you want a goldfish, you have to go to the goldfish street, where there are only goldfish stores. If you want a wedding gown, you have to go to the wedding gown street. If you want some night life, you have to go to the nightlife street. In the same area the OFW hangs out on Sundays. Only place I've been to a night club at 2pm on a Sunday and it was packed :D
That actually sounds very awesome. Sounds very structured and makes shopping for the best price easy. I am the type of person that only goes shopping when I need something and I don't want to see anything other than what I'm looking for. That product placement crap that stores put so much work into means nothing to me, I'm blind to anything I'm not set on buying. I sometimes end up paying more because driving across town ain't worth the hassle to save 100 pesos.
I thought that was Thailand, not Taipei, that had "Walking Street". I think that Angeles City has blatantly ripped off Pattaya's "Walking Street" name by renaming Fields Ave to Walking Street.....even going as far as to create a very crappy copy of the street gate sign in the past year or two. Although, maybe it has always been called that but I was just too drunk notice.
