Philippines has gained a prominent title as part of the best countries with wonderful places to visit. Filipinos are even proud to include the city of Dipolog among the beauties of the country.
Dipolog City of the Philippines is known to be the Orchid City of the country. It is the capital of the province of Zamboanga del Norte on the southern Philippine island of Mindanao. Being a third class city, it has culture that is well preserved by the natives. It offers the most peaceful atmosphere of multiculturalism. The boulevard by-passers await the breathtaking sunsets while food enthusiasts go after the sumptuous delicacies produced locally by the city.
The geographical structure of the city explains why tourists love to be in this place. Rolling hills to the southeast and Sulu Sea to the north surround the area of Dipolog. In the year 1914, the land has reportedly covered an approximate land area of 248,587 hectares stated under Act No. 302 of the Philippine Islands. Unfortunately, the amounted coverge of the land area substantially reduced in the year 1951 with an estimated measure of 13,628 hectares, after two barrios of Dipolog were converted into Municipalities of Polanco, and Piñan. This change was stated under Executive Order of the President No. 467, and dated on August 22, 1951. The said city carries different reputable names in the state. The ‘Orchid City’ of the country was a title garnered by the settlers because of its abundance in wild orchids. It is also famous for its widespread sardine industry which stems from the rich fishing area of its shores. It currently holds the label “Bottled Sardines Capital of the Philippines”. Furthermore, the “Gateway to Western Mindanao” is another denotation for Dipolog. The ‘gateway’ leading to Western Mindanao is through the Western Nautical Highway.

On brief history, Dipolog then was once under the Spanish Provincial Government of Misamis in the year 1834 where the bylaw has organized a civil government. The appointment of a “Captain” as town executive and “Teniente”, and an “Aguacil” was on rule to maintain the locale’s law and order. On the same year, Don Domingo Ruiz reigned as the town executive. From Sitio Tulawanan, the whole city of Dipolog was transferred to where it is now. As mentioned, Tulwanan and Dipag are two separate places technically during that era. The former distribution of settlers in Dipag includes Boholano natives and Tulwanan are mostly composed of Subanen Ancestry.
The way to Dipolog is easy. An eager tourist has to travel by plane via Dipolog Airport or by ferry bounded at the nearby Pulauan Port in Dapitan City, on the east by the municipality of Polanco, and by the municipality of Katipunan on the west side. The foreshore Dipolog Boulevard is a popular city attraction of Dipolog. As of now, the site is down to its second phase of construction but has drastically become the talk of the town where people usually enjoy for exercise and leisure. It is also a known destination for some local celebrations and festivals in the city. The third phase of the locality is another stretch of boulevard reaching the seaport of the Galas barangay.
