      <content:encoded><![CDATA[Hello all...interested to hear if anyone in Negros has tried growing table grapes, positives or negatives.<br />
<br />
We ordered 15 rooted cardinal cuttings and another 5 black ribier cuttings.  We have an area set up for these; going to get the bamboo support posts in the ground tomorrow.  The rooted cuttings have been transferred to larger pots under shade cloth in our seed starting area thinking they need 2 weeks or so until transplanted into the ground.<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[Hello all...I&#039;ve seen a number of posts in the past about the difficulties in growing tomatoes in the Philippines.  Hoping for some responses on <i>exact</i> issues folks have encountered.<br />

I have around 70 San Marzano and 30 cherry tomato plants that are ready to transplant into the field.  I start all seeds in a 50/50 mix of vermicompost and rice hulls.  Seems to be a good seed starting mix for most veggies.  The seedlings are all around 8-10&quot; tall and look great, only issue is some minor...<br />

We&#039;ve been on a &quot;waiting list&quot; for a few months now where we normally get vermicompost, they&#039;re busy filling orders.  The wife is also working on getting rice hulls as well as what is left after the mill processes sugarcane.<br />
<br />
Our farmland was used for decades for sugarcane with chemical fertilizers so the soil is dead.  Weeds don&#039;t even want to grow; one of the ways I judge soil is how many worms you see...haven&#039;t seen a worm yet....<br />

What made his farm unique was his drip irrigation innovation.       <content:encoded><![CDATA[We started a <i>bunch</i> of seeds last night.  One of the seed flats (104 cells) is just cactus, I harvested those seeds when I was in Arizona.  I only need 6 cactus for my plan for a rock garden but have heard they are very difficult to germinate so 2-3 seeds per cell.  I have never had cactus and really no clue about growing/germinating them other than what I&#039;ve read so we will see.  If I end up with more cactus than I need then the wife will gift them and/or I will make a post to give...<br />

<br />
I ordered 30 seeds, soaked 6 seeds for 12 hours as recommended, put 3 seeds each in two large pots of vermicompost.  10 days or so and nothing has popped up.  I&#039;ve read it can take 2 weeks or more but rainy season has kicked in with nice temps so hoping they will germinate.  I&#039;m starting to wonder if I need to be a bit more patient or try some of the other banana seeds I have?...<br />

For us; okra grows well and we eat tons of it.  Patula (hope I spelt that correct) a local gourd, tastes fine to me when cooked.  Have had very good luck with cucumbers...some issues with cucumber bugs but they move relatively slow in the mornings so not too hard to pick off and dispose of.  She did have enough luck with cucumbers to be able to give many away.  Definitely will keep growing cucumbers...picked up some seeds of...<br />

We bought 1/2 kilo of dried peppers from Little India; nice tasting peppers, not too hot in my opinion but they say they are the hottest.  Anyway, went to work on separating seeds from the peppers...I literally have thousands of pepper seeds.<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[I just harvested my first kiyot bee honey from a air vent they had been living in for a few years. They are a small black stingless be and quite common here.<br />
If you want to attract then cut a length of bamboo with both plugs in and drill a small hole at one end and set in a tree etc and wait.<br />
The honey from them is expensive and supposed to be very good for you.<br />
It certainly tastes differenent from any other honey with a slightly sour and sweet flavour.<br />
