According to sources, the Sipalay airport would not be limited to commercial flights. In fact, it can also accommodate light aircrafts as well as any other propeller-driven planes. The Sipalay airport can serve as the easiest access point for visitors who want to try and experience the different diving resorts and white sand beaches in the city of Sipalay.

The Sipalay airport is to be placed at the former airstrip occupied by the Maricalum Mining Corp. which is located at the heart of Barangay San Jose. The government of Negros Occidental will collaborate with the city of Sipalay in financing the development of this airport.

The Sipalay airport will play a very important role in the economic development of the province. It will also aid in transforming the city of Sipalay into one of the best tourist destinations in the Philippines.
