Dumaguete City is undoubtedly a popular tourist destination, but it is mostly known as a gateway city to other tourist attractions found in neighboring towns. But that doesn’t mean the City of Gentle People has nothing to offer, in fact, here is a list of things to do and places to see to fully experience and witness the beauty of Dumaguete City.
Disclaimer: accomplishing all of the list below might make you want to stay here forever. You’re welcome.
Whether you are a morning person or not, get up. The sunrise at the city’s boulevard is a definite beaut. And what a better way to wake up than to go for a quick run? (Although not everyone is a fan of exercise, we know, but still, a power walk helps)
Because what’s a trip without a funky and cute picture, right? Plus your friends will definitely adore it. Yey, you!
The place is a quirky cottage located at barangay Daro. It is mainly a sub-branch of Gabby’s Bistro (we’ll get to this part later, it’s okay to be excited. We got you.), and unlike the bistro itself—not to mention the name speaks for itself, too, the place serves mainly breakfast food. All day. Everyday. A pure haven for morning people. And the food? Absolutely delicious. Plus the service is great. Win-win.
Ah, yes. The famously dubbed campus by the sea. Silliman is not only well-known for its academic advances, but also for the sole beauty of the campus and its enriching environment. The university has campus ambassadors that will give you a brief summary about the school’s history and everything you need to know about Silliman. See it for yourself and take the tour!
If you ever spot the occasional kalesa around town, don’t think twice, and just hop in! It’s a fun way to see the laid back downtown area of Dumaguete.
Dumaguete isn’t dubbed as The City of Gentle People for nothing. People here are nice and friendly. Smile at strangers, ask about the city, about the underrated coffee shops in town, the weather, anything! Simply strike up a conversation with any of the locals, it will make your day.
