If a picture is already somewhere on the internet you should not use the "Upload a File" button to post it to the forum. Say for example you were to search for a "brick hod" in Google and you found the picture there. This means that the picture already exists on the internet since you found it there. I am going to do a very in depth tutorial on how this is done. (with pictures). 1. Go to Google. 2. Search for the picture you want (I will use a "brick hod" as an example) by typing in "brick hod" in the search box. 3. Click the "Images" tab under the search box. 4. Click on the image you want to post to the forum. 5. Right click on the image in the box that just popped up and click "Copy image URL" 6. Come back to the forum where you are typing your post. 7. Click the button directly to the right of the smiley button. It looks like this: 8. After clicking a pop-up will appear asking you to enter the URL. 9. Move your mouse over the text box and right click and click "Paste" on the drop menu. 10. You will see that an URL has been pasted to the box. Now hit "Insert". 11. BAM! You image has now been inserted into your message. Ok. So now that I have went through and done a step by step on how to insert an image URL this should no longer be a problem. Now, how do you know when to use the "Upload a File" or use the image URL shown above? If the picture was taken by you, drawn by you or is your property and has not been uploaded anywhere else on the internet then use the "Upload a File" button. If you have found the picture online, at a different website (or even if it is already on DI), use the image URL method. If you have loaded your own picture to Facebook/Twitter/Google Plus......any other website, copy the url to post it here. Using the "Upload a File" button saves the pictures to my server and I have limited space available. If I run out of space then I have to buy more (and that comes at a monthly fee). Please use the image URL method to post pictures. If you don't you might find that I have snatched the "Upload an Image" permission from you and you will be forced to copy your pictures elsewhere and use the URL to post them here. I'm not directing this at anyone specific *cough* @Jack Peterson *cough* but I have noticed a few people who are bigger offenders than other.
I'll look into that. FYI: You will also save yourself some hard drive space (and limit your chances of downloading a virus) by doing this instead of downloading every picture you run across.
OK lets see if I have this right. This Photo was done from Google using the URL given so have I done it correctly? JP
