I made the move to a bamboo bed frame several years ago and I won't go back to the squeaky metal frames again. I think you can get a bamboo bed frame made for a couple thousand pesos, the things are tank and do not squeak at all. Finding a decent mattress will be the biggest problem.
Thank for all the suggestions guys, it's for the wife, I'm over in the UK, she needs one fast, just finished some work on the house, at least one of the bedrooms. Told her to get one when she got there two weeks ago. She's been so busy getting power on and so on. I have to stay here in England and work, back over in December for a few months (snow bird)
My Wife just had one made in Zamboanguita, a large single size that she and anak sleep in at the moment, I asked for it to be made from Bamboo as a 4-Poster tied together at the top with bamboo rails so we could drape a large mosquito net over the top, when I am back I will lash out and buy curtains for it also as I promised her a "Pink Princess Bed"... All up, she paid $1,000 pesos for it, it is very sturdy looking and she is impressed with it as is anak and she said it is amazingly comfortable to sleep in. At first the builders were suspicious asking asawa if she is married to a foreigner, she fobbed it off asking why? They told her normally only foreigner want that style of bed, but she stuck to her guns telling them her daughter had wanted a Princess Bed and she has done so well at School she decided to reward her with one, they dropped the price from 2,000 to 1,100 and asawa beat them down to 1,000 pesos as long as they delivered and assembled the bed for her :D I plan on getting another Double or Queen 4-Poster made after I get back that we can cover completely with a mozzie net (also stops the lizard droppings raining down upon me from the Nipa roof) and then add a few curtains for a lil privacy... I may need to hide out in the CR until they have finished assembly tho? hehe
Update, wife had a double bed made, Queen size with headboard and four drawers. The man who made it is from Sibulan, cost 6,000 pesos, painted and delivered. The Mattress cost 3500, from uy matiao.
