Personally, I really don't care, I don't vote any longer, don't pay U.S. taxes, and am only impacted by the U.S. dollar to the peso and social security funds surviving. However, I follow the global news and find it interesting that President Obama has two years left to deal with trying to get his and his parties programs through both a republican senate and congress. On the other hand, the president still owns veto power and can shoot down the other guys initiatives. Should be fun and games with leather and chains in the U.S. the next two years.

They are all scum IMO. They are all for sale....if any of them had a soul left to sell to the devil they would do it in a heartbeat (or not, since they are lacking on of those as well). The day they have a vote for public hangings for all past and present politicians is the day I register to vote.

Anyone not voting should have nothing to say.
The system is far from perfect that is for sure.
But not voting at all is far worse in my opinion. One can always pick the lesser of two evils.
If we keep "Re-electing no one" we can eventually clean house.
What were some of us fighting and serving for if it wasn't for freedom and the privilege of voting ?
I can only hope by 2016 things will be different. But only if the voting public votes and has the will to change things.
I still write letters to my Senators and Representatives regularly. If we don't say something how do they know how we feel or what we want ?

The last time I voted, I voted for Richard Nixon. Enough said.

I refuse to vote for that scum on the ballot and I will continue to complain about it. If I didn't pay a sh*t ton of taxes I would agree that I didn't deserve to complain. I do, so I will. When I finish my contracts I always apply for unemployment and any and all government benefits I can (legally) get my hands on to get as much of that tax money back as I can. The government has proven they are incapable of managing even the simplest of tasks, better that the money be back in my pocket than in theirs.

I didn't serve my country for any politician or political party (which is all that voting has been reduced to....you only have a say if you have ). If someone was running on the platform to outlaw political parties I would also register to vote for them.....so long as I was able to NOT vote for anyone else or give a vote of no confidence for anyone in a political party. There is only an illusion of political parties in the US. Both parties represent whoever pays the most first and only listen to what the people want enough to keep them in power.

I have absolutely no confidence in the politicians that represent the people of the US......and given their approval ratings I would say that the vast majority of people in the US agree with me.

Those that don't at least try deserve the government or lack government of you get.
By not voting or participating you are letting others make your decisions for you.
But in a relatively free country like the U.S. that is your choice if you want to let someone else run your life.
It's not my choice. I will fight to the bitter end.
That's what freedom is all about.

Paying taxes is participating and IMO much more than voting does. There has also been on one occasion that I donated to a political campaign of a certain politician, though I regret that and will never do it again.

Voting is a right, not a requirement in the US. My right to free speech is not void because I refuse to vote for the scum that make up the Republican and Democratic parties. Politicians should be forced to campaign on their own fund raising and their own political ideologies. Not piggy back off of a party and their money.

Of course this would require people to actually research and pay attention to the REAL issues the countries face and not just go vote solely on party lines. The system is broke and is only getting worse each election cycle. It is not sustainable and the US government will come crashing down once everyone has had enough. (and it will probably bring half of the developed world along for the ride.)

I agree in part with you. Personally I do not vote by party. I vote split ticket. Plus there are proposals that need voting on also. I still "re-elect no one". Yes the system is broke, but who is going to fix it if we don't. We need to get the old career politicians out and get back to the days when it was an honor just to serve one term.
I just can't stand back and let any minority voters make decisions for me with out at least trying. I feel everyone should vote. But it is a choice in a free country, well sort of free.
Too many people know all the football scores and players, baseball statistics for years back, basketball and so on but they haven't a clue who is evening running the U.S.. I saw a program the other night where 80% of the people interviewed didn't even know who the current V.P. is. Now that is sad.
It was reported that only 1/3 of eligible Filipino American voters voted. That is also sad.
We can collectively change the United States back to a reasonable country but it will not happen automatically.

Isn't politics almost always controversial ?
And to set the record straight any veto by the President of the United States can be over-turned by Congress. Fact.
