My flights are around $1,200 USD to get to Dubai and then Afghanistan. I am not letting PAL walk away with that much of my money without me first giving them a massive headache.

There are laws they must follow. They can't just screw you out of money like that.

There are some aspects of Filipino culture I won't abide by. Laying over and getting screwed by the powers at be is something I will never do.

Our tenant has been intouch with Philippine aorlines this pm. They said it was only the early flight that was cancelled this am and the later pm flight was nearly on time! He wanted a guarentee about his tue flight to manilla which he said he can get tomorrow via the website, hmmm I would not trust any of the airlines here as you cannot predict the weather or their actions or excuses.

Check with Cebu Pacific. When in the same situation in October they refused, but that's before I read the Air Passengers Bil of Rights.
What I did was to tell them to rebook med on Cebu Pacific, who had seats on Sunday (PAL wanted to put me on a PAL flight on Wednesday, but I had a connecting flight in Manila to Amsterdam and was scheduled to fly back to the Philippines on Friday, so flying out on Wednesday would barely get me to Amsterdam in time to get on my flight back again). They refused. But, I then just told them as they couldn't fly me on the flight I was scheduled, I wanted a full refund. Which they gave me. I walked straight to Cebu Pacific and bought a new ticket. Same result as if they had rebooked me, so I don't really see why they refuse.

And, don't forget, that a checked in bag, not on your flight, gives you 2000p per 24 hour period it is delayed (it's a delay fee, so no receipts needed). And, they have to deliver it to your doorstep.

I think having a copy of passenger rights would help this situation get faster results. Sadly we do not have many airline choices but I find leaving out of Cebu works better.

I also never worried about it until I started flying in the Philippines. I always pay the extra $50 or so for it when flying international.

Maybe I was wrong......you do think like a Filipino. Roll over and let them do what they want to you. I won't be holding my breath, but they will breath a sigh of relief when I leave their desk. If I pay for a service I fully expect for said service to be rendered or I will get a full refund.
