I think you left out the work "reported" when used the word child molester. Seldom are Filipino family members reported, and there is a good amount of family member practicing molestation. The advantage the expats have for reduced numbers are two fold: they do not have as many family member living close to them as the Filipino family member do, and "they can afford the money to make the case go away". Maybe all these issues balance out the number to being about the same.
It happens everywhere. I don't think any ethnicity has a monopoly on child molesters. Sadly, it happens all around the globe.
To cruise junky's point, most of us realize we have a few strange dudes here, but certainly the minority and who knows their former background. I had a weird Uncle Ed that fooled around with me and a couple of my cousins when we were young. A touchy subject - no pun intended...
hopefully more discussion with our children will expose these pedifiles.Pedifiles look no different then anyone else. They are our neighbors, relatives, and unfortunately sometimes our best friends or spouses.I was a victim of 2 older family members for 7 years so I don't have any sympathy for them.
I think that blown into proportion would be closer to correct. Child molestation is something that is universally abhorred by civilized people everywhere. It should not become a big deal because a foreigner is involved. It should be a big deal and dealt with harshly irregardless of who the perpetrator or victims are.
It is not unheard of for charges to be brought against someone for monetary gain. I won't judge anyone accused of any crime until all the facts have been presented. I won't go on a witch hunt because someone accused someone of something.
In this country charges are sometimes brought against someone to gain custody of the children by the ex-spouse. No ex-spouses have charged him. It appears Tom has had 2 previous charges of messing with juveniles. One was a non family member and one was a niece. Now he is facing charges from 2 new family members.
Either way, I'll let the courts decide if he is innocent or not. I don't know the guy (at least I don't think I do) so I have nothing to base an opinion on. The court of public opinion is ruthless enough as it is.
You may wish to start reading at the beginning of the thread. In any event what I said was not witch hunt, what I said is it is a big deal irregardless of if a kano or a filipino does it and it should be treated accordingly.
