Always a reason for leaving such a wonderful Country as Oz. ..... Either a guy is running away from something or someone, or running to something or someone...........lol :D

It is like parachute jumping, who on earth would want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane, unless of course it was crashing:wink:

Fair enough, I left aus 19 years ago i worked in many parts of south east asia for 10 years as a ships captain i fell in love with se asia climate and its people . When it came time to retire Singapore too expensive, malaysia and indonesia muslim country's and i am catholic at the time thailand had a funny visa system, so i had a m8 here so i ended never regreted it. I know a lot of australians that have returned to australia in the last 2 months most of them because the Abbott gang have taken away or reduced their invalid pension, They are making it very hard to collect a pension or live in another country while you are on it . cheers

Well, at least Australia does actually offer an Invalid Pension,..........does the Philippines ?.............And I understand that people on the Invalid Pension in Australia, after they turn 65yo have the option to change over to the Old Age Pension, which is the same benefits I am told, and there is no restriction to living overseas if they do change over. Correct me if I am wrong, but it is what I heard from a friend.

Is SSS not a Pension of sorts in the Philippines? You just have to be smart enough to pay in to it. I'm not sure on what type of benefits it gives but it is something. I actually like the idea that it seems to be completely optional. I wish the US had a similar payment system. If people are too stupid to pay in then screw 'em.

You have to check the new rules. many have been taken off the invalad in aust now a 28 year old man with termnal inless was put on new start and told to look for a job Another man lost his because he has only 18inches missing off his leg and the pension kicks in at 20 inches true story
You have to use a doctor that is centerlink aproved. i have a friend there now to get his age pension got it ok but was told it will stop if he leaves the country he is appealing it now . we that got it before the new rules are lucky . i am just waiting for them to reduce it for thoses living out of the country like many other countrys do. I paid my tax to aust not the philippines so i dont them to support me . i met you and your girl friend at kevin the butchers xmas party
    cheers

I am contributing to the SSS Philippines Pension each year, among other things, for my Filipina Wife for her future financial security. She will eventually be able to take advantage of Australian Benefits as well as Philippine benefits if she so choses. You are correct in that one has to contribute, it is not offered gratis by the Phil Government. Nor does the Phil Government offer an Invalid or Disability Pension, as does Australia. The Old Age Pension in Australia and the Disability Pension and the Carers Pension, and the Single Mothers Pension etc., are offered to Australian citizens who have paid Tax during their working years. And, sometimes this advantage is abused by people unfortunately, which causes the Govt of the day to take strong action, as to who is acceptable.
