Is it your first time? And do you plan to stay at a persons home, hotel or resort. The hotels there are about one third the cost of the resorts? I have been to Bais a few times.

You will not need a visa for a 3 month stay. They will stamp your passport when you arrive and you will need to go to immigration to renew after your first 30 days is up. They will inform you when you have to next visit the immigration office (which should be prior to day 59 of your stay). When you go in for your second extension you should inform them that you will only be needing the 1 month visa extension and not the 2 month (so long as your stay will not extend one day past the 3 month mark).

Concerning a place to stay: I'm not sure how soon "soon" is for you. Best practice is to have boots on ground to look for a place to stay yourself. What your standards are and what your gf's standards are will likely differ greatly and you might be very disappointed if you let her pick one out for you. Find a cheap pension house or boarding house to stay at when you first arrive and then start your search from there.

Short term leases in Dumaguete can range from around 12k-30k+ pesos (depending on what living standards you are trying to achieve). I'd imagine you can find one in Bais for around 10k-15k a month with no problem. I've personally never looked at moving to the area so I have no idea what is available there. Maybe some of the other members here can point you in the right direction.

They have asked me if I knew my return ticket was past the free 30 day tourist visa before. I just smiled and politely told them I knew where the immigration office was and what the process was for extending the visa. They smiled and let me through without any problems.
