WHERE TO LIVE WHEN MOVING TO THE DUMAGUETE AREA?

I agree with Davy. I also live in Bacong because it is close to town, but far enough out where the air is fresher, less noise, and cheaper lots. Nothing like a U.S. suburb, to be sure, but the fresh daily fish and farmers market are other advantages. Not many pubs around except one can go to Bambulo or La Fiesta and one convenience store. Still, 10 min. to the mall or 10 min. to Dauin resorts help make it acceptable. I recommend it.

 

You should also take into consideration the proximity of the wife's family.

 

only the rich people live in the mountains...i am a poor man, so i have to live at the ocean in bacong, house with sea view, fresh cool breeze all day n night, nearly mosquito free, no videoke in the neighbourhood, sand beach in front of my door...surely not recommended for everyone

 

I or 2 islands away sounds good, But someone invented that d*mn Phone thingy.

We live about 2km ''úp the hill'' from Valencia. There can be water problems if there's a big rain, but we haven't had a problem in the last 3 years. The market is good for veggies - also a good Sunday market. It's a very pleasant little town - only thing lacking I think is a good ''expat'' bar, but it's not too far too Bambulo or La Fiesta.
The electric rebate is discontinued now, but the evenings are much cooler than down on the coast so we hardly ever use ac - a big saving given the cost of electricity here.
San Pedro private school in Valencia teaches in English.
Also, we have never had any security issues here.
